El Salvador Geography

El Salvador, located in Central America, borders the North Pacific Ocean to the south and southwest, between Guatemala to the north-northwest and Honduras to the north-northeast. From Nicaragua, El Salvador is separated by the Golfo de Fonseca. This is the smallest country in Central America, with the total area of 21,040 square kilometer. Most of the land of El Salvador is covered with mountains. The country is also known as the Land of Volcanoes. Earthquakes are very frequent in El Salvador.
